More time on the water than any other school
Discover Sailing! Try out sailing just for fun. Leave the driving to us!
Looking for a relaxing day on the water? Whether you are visiting Los Angeles, celebrating a special event or simply want to experience Los Angeles from the water’s side, Discover Sailing is a great way to go. All of our captains are also experienced, professional teachers. We welcome anyone (even kids!) to take the helm and get a taste of the wonderful sport of sailing. Don’t be surprised if some of our sea lion and dolphin friends follow along on your adventure. We offer both half day (four-hour) and full day (eight-hour) Discover Sailing charters.
The highest rated instructors in the entire ASA
Our instructors excel at making the process of learning fun. Bluewater’s goal is to increase your confidence on the water with as much hands-on-the-wheel experience as possible. You’ll find that the extra time on the water we provide combined with a fun ASA certified step by step process builds both the “muscle memory” and intellectual knowledge you’ll need to set sail with confidence.
Enjoy an unrushed, easy learn-by-doing process
For over forty years Bluewater Sailing has been committed to delivering educational excellence at every level of sailing instruction. That begins with a staff of instructors that are unique – professional mariners credentialed by the USCG, as well as highly gifted teachers. You’ll find good humor, a supportive environment, and good fun as you build your sailing skills.
Build skills aboard the largest fleet of vessels reserved for students
Bluewater maintains its fleet of coastal cruising sailboats in the second largest man-made marina in the world located in Marina Del Rey, CA. Depending upon the Bluewater course you take, you’ll sail aboard one or a number of different vessels ranging from 22 to 36 feet in length. Bluewater is unique in that we only charter our boats to students. Our goal is to provide you with vessels after you have completed class in order to support your continued education.
