Below is a sample itinerary – changes to anchorages may be made in advance or required during the voyage.

Day 1 – Tortola
The start of an awesome trip begins at an awesome base, Wickhams Cay II on the island of Tortola, just a short cab ride from Beef Island airport.  Checkin is 6:00 PM.  Dinner will be ashore at Charlie’s restaurant in the marina.

Day 2 – Tortola to Cooper Island
A short sail across the Sir Francis Drake Channel and you’ll pick up a mooring in Manchioneel Bay, Cooper Island.  Hop aboard the dinghy to the beautiful Cooper Island Beach Club to check out the famous Rum Bar and micro-brewery.  Kayak out to Cistern Point or just hang out on the beach.  Sunset dinner aboard!

Day 3 – Cooper Island Adventures
Join a once in a lifetime adventure to snorkel or scuba dive the world famous Wreck of the Rhone, a BVI Underwater National Park.  If you’ve never tried diving you can join a Discover Scuba experience to learn the basics and get you comfortable for a shallow water dive with an instructor.  Or enjoy all the beach club has to offer, kayaking, snorkeling, tranquil white sand beaches, and great food.  Lobster is on the menu for dinner ashore this evening!

Day 4 – Jost Van Dyke
Head out for a half day’s sail across the Sir Francis Drake Channel and then north to the world famous Foxy’s Tamarind Bar in Great Harbour for a BVI-style BBQ dinner and live music on the beach.  Great Harbour and nearby White Bay, home to the famous Soggy Dollar Bar, offer some of the best beach bars and night life in the BVI.

Day 5 – Day at sea to Sandy Cay, Monkey Point, and Virgin Gorda
Sail east from Jost Van Dyke for a stop at the islet of Sandy Cay, a tiny island ringed with a white sand beach.  Then on to Guana Island, Monkey Point for lunch and some of the best snorkeling the BVI has to offer.  A short sail and you’ll arrive and anchor at the peaceful Valley Trunk Bay at Virgin Gorda for a sumptuous island dinner aboard.

Day 6 – Virgin Gorda to Scrub Island
A quick hop over from Valley Trunk and you’ll experience the most famous natural wonder of these islands, The Baths.  Impossibly large granite boulders tower over the ocean creating fun pathways to explore.  Visit the secluded seawater pools and take a short hike to the restaurant / bar at “Top of the Baths.”  Then take a short sail west to Scrub Island to enjoy the full service Scrub Island Resort.

Day 7 – Norman Island
Heading further southwest, you’ll enjoy a half day’s sail to The Bight at Norman Island where you can snorkel or kayak the caves of Treasure Point – the original place where the real Pirates of the Caribbean stored their gold.  Enjoy happy hour ashore at the famous Pirate’s Bight followed by a final celebratory dinner on the aft deck.

Day 8 – Tortola, Wickhams Cay II
A final breakfast aboard and one more snorkeling adventure just off Norman Island at the dramatic rock formation known as The Indians. Then it’s on to the Wickhams Cay II base for an 11:00 AM checkout.  But the memories you have made will last a lifetime.  It’s time to start planning the next trip!

The Moorings 4500 – 4 Cabin Catamaran Yacht

Revolutionary is the word that describes this new catamaran which uniquely balances comfort, space and a sailing performance unrivaled by others in its class. The British Virgin Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean east of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, about 1,000 nautical miles north of the equator. The North Atlantic Ocean lies to the north of the islands, and the Caribbean Sea lies to the south. The territory is comprised of nearly 60 tropical islands ranging in size from the largest, Tortola 12 miles long and 3 miles wide, to tiny uninhabited islets. Most of the islands are volcanic in origin and have a hilly, rugged terrain with low vegetation. Anegada is geologically distinct from the rest of the group and is a flat island composed of limestone and coral. Numerous reefs ring the islands making the BVI a snorkeler’s paradise. Navigation is often line of sight amid the Sir Francis Drake Channel which runs 15 nautical miles up the center of the island chain.

The BVI has super sailing conditions year round with steady trade winds that make the protected waters of the Sir Francis Drake Channel a pleasure to sail.  The popular Winter months of January through March can bring trades of 18 – 25 knots from the NE, but generally settled weather.  Temperatures range from 84° F in the day to 74° F at night.  The less crowded Summer season of May to July brings winds comfortably 10 – 15 knots out of the southeast with average precipitation low, and day time highs around 89° F, evening lows around 79° F. August to November is the rainy season and despite the recent hurricanes, the Virgin Islands have fewer storms than does Long Island Sound in New York. Tides are slight in the BVI, with a range of approx 12 inches year round. Currents are generally light, but can run 1 to 2 knots in cuts between St. John and Tortola. And then there’s the amazing water temperature, 82° F. Whether you’re swimming, snorkeling, or just splashing shore side amid the crystal clear turquoise water, you can comfortably jump in no wetsuits required.

Valid passports are required to travel to the British Virgin Islands – your passport must be valid at the time of entry and good for 6 months past your departure date from the BVI.

Tourist visas are not required for US citizens if staying less than 30 days.

The US Dollar is the currency used throughout the BVI. Credit cards are accepted at most establishments. (With the exception of American Express which is seldom taken.) Keep in mind that small beach bars have no way of handling card transactions.

The language of the BVI is English.

Important Details:

• Bookings can only be taken for full staterooms, not for individual berths.
• 50% deposit due upon booking. Staterooms cannot be held without a deposit.
• Deposits and voyage fare balances can can be paid online. Give us a call for more details.
• Specific stateroom will be assigned at a later time, based on availability.
• Once all staterooms have been booked, potential Guests that express interest will be added to a wait list.
• The final 50% balance is due no later than 120 days prior to the sail date.  These trips are popular so please keep in mind that to retain your stateroom all balances must be paid on time.
• Travel Protection Insurance and Cancellation Coverage: The charter industry is experiencing rapid change regarding travel booking and safety protocols. Each Guest is recommended to carry a Travel Protection Insurance policy to cover costs related to unexpected schedule changes and/or cancellations. Travel Protection Insurance is not included in our voyage pricing. When you purchase a separate Travel Protection Insurance policy, consult the details of the policy related to Covid-19 and other covered circumstances. Be sure you understand how your policy reimburses costs due to cancellation of your trip for family or medical issues, a general concern over travel, country lockdown events, airline denial of boarding due to temperature checks, if you were to contract Covid-19 before or during your travels, or other Covid-19 related circumstances.  
• Peace of Mind Charter Postponement Policy Due to Covid-19: We want you to feel confident in your travel plans. To further provide you with peace of mind, we are offering the following terms for guests that have paid in full:
  • If our charter provider confirms they cannot operate the charter due to local government restrictions, or
  • If our charter Guests and Crew are unable to reach our destination due to confirmed border closures, or if the US Department of State issues a “Level 4 – Do Not Travel” advisory against all travel to our booked destination AND such measures or advice is confirmed to still be in place on our date of departure, then,
  • In either of the above two cases, we will postpone the departure date of the charter for another date within 12 months from our original departure date at no cost to you. Providing that your balance has been paid in full, your stateroom will be held for you and guaranteed for the rescheduled sail date. If the above two circumstances remain in place through the newly rescheduled date, a new travel date will again be determined at no cost to you.
