Boat Usage and Bareboat Charters
Bluewater Sailing’s fleet is reserved for student use. The fleet is available for day sails and multi-day charters to active students and qualified alumni who have passed a multi-day charter checkout process.
Bluewater Sailing offers an entire spectrum of yachts sizes available for bareboat or crewed charters in the Southern California area: daysails, weekends or longer.

Bareboat Charter Details
Multi-day bareboat chartering is contingent upon successfully completing a written exam and an on the water demonstration of skills, prior to the day of charter. This is a 4+ hour process that evaluates your safe sailing abilities as well as orients you with the boat and the cruising area. However, this session is not meant to be instructional and we cannot guarantee success. It is mandatory that the skipper be well trained and knowledgeable, including prior experience on a boat such as the one to be chartered.
Checkout Session Fees:
Checkout fee: $750-1200. based on boat size (Monday – Thursday only)
(We’re sorry we cannot accommodate checkouts Friday, Saturday, Sunday as this is our busiest time of the week. )
Overnight privilege checkout: add $150

Other Fees and Information
Charter Times:
Charter start and completion times are from the Bluewater Sailing Office in Marina del Rey. The period for a full day charter is from 10AM to 60 minutes before Sunset.
Annual Service:
The annual service fee of $330 is included with any ASA course combination package you take with Bluewater Sailing.
No Cleaning or Monthly Club Fees:
We are a facility dedicated to education and service, not monthly fees. People come to learn to sail safely and stay for our flexibility and good service.
Cancellation / Refund Policy:
50% nonrefundable deposit required to schedule a charter with balance due on arrival. All sales final. Cancellation within 60 days of reservation: no credit unless we can fill your time slot.
Diesel Fuel Surcharge:
Half Day $15, Full Day $20, Per Day with Overnight $35
Security Deposit:
Security deposit is based on boat size.
under 25′ $1200, under 32′ $2450, under 37′ $2950, under 45′ $3550
Overnight Charters:
Vessel pre-board: add $150. Add $150 per night overnight.
Dinghy Rental:
1 – 4 days: $200
5 – 7 days: $280
Dinghy with engine add: $85
Linen Service:
$ 60 per couple per trip.
Optional Gratuities: Gratuities allowed and appreciated for good service and not included in pricing.
Terms: Rates, terms, policies, course outlines or boats subject to change without notice.
Bluewater Sailing Guarantee:
If it is raining or the conditions are deemed dangerous at the time of your charter, you can reschedule with no problem.
